Well I have a red line: I as a pastor & we as a church will stand for & with Israel unreservedly, not because the Jewish people are better, no God often actually says often the opposite in the Scriptures. But because of the covenant He has made with the descendants of Abraham. And yes most of the people living in Israel today are of Jewish descent, contrary to all sort of weird theories floating around. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, and yet the media portrays her as the villain of the world. I believe this is a supernatural hatred that comes from the pit of hell—spiritual warfare against the plan of God and the Jewish people. Questions from some in the church, about the position of Israel as the elected people of God and the return of the Jewish people to their homeland as acts of God, are rooted in Biblical illiteracy. Just as the church has been tested throughout the ages as to whether or not it would obey God’s Word, so today the church is undergoing a time of purification and separation, not unlike what Jesus prophesied would happen as we enter deeper into the Last Days prior to His appearing. We all watched as believers, churches and denominations dealt with the COVID pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, the movement to redefine gender and sexuality, and then the DEI movement. And yet, we’re seeing an even bigger test today—what I would call The Israel Test—to reveal what we really believe about what I regard as clear Biblical teaching. I am, of course, talking about the replacement theology movement that has surfaced yet again. If Israel has been replaced by the church and there is no future for the Jewish nation, how do we explain the unexplainable, supernatural, Biblical survival of the Jewish people over the past 2,000 years, despite constant attempts by their enemies to destroy them? How do we explain Israel’s reappearance as a nation after being driven to the four corners of the Earth after A.D. 70? Let’s look at a few examples of what God says about Israel and its future: “And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God” (Genesis 17:7-8). “But Zion said, ‘The Lord has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.’ Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me. Your sons shall make haste; your destroyers and those who laid you waste shall go away from you” (Isaiah 49:14-17). “For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land” (Ezekiel 36:24). And then there are the Apostle Paul’s words in Romans 11:1-2: “I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. …” And in Matthew 24:15, Jesus clearly teaches that Israel, and the temple in Jerusalem, will exist at the time of the Great Tribulation. How can this be if there is no Israel? I believe we are living in the daze of deception, and only God’s Word will bring clarity. That is why I believe it is time for us to take a bold stand. But there is some confusion among some Bible teachers as to when this invasion will occur. Some teach that the Russian invasion could occur before the Rapture, others teach that it will occur in the first half of the Tribulation while others place it at the end of the seven years of the Tribulation at the time of the battle of Armageddon. If we rightly divide the Word of Truth there can be absolutely no doubt that the Russian invasion must occur in the first half of the Tribulation. It Cannot Occur at the End of the Tribulation It cannot occur at the end of the Tribulation because only five nations are involved in the Russian-led invasion whereas the battle of Armageddon at the end of the Tribulation involves ALL nations (Compare Joel 3:2 with Ezek.38:1-6). The Russian invasion is led by Gog the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (Russia) whereas the battle of Armageddon is led by the Beast (Antichrist) who is the leader of the Revived Roman Empire. The Russian invasion concludes with the land of Magog (Russia) being burned and 1/6 of the invading army will escape to Siberia (Joel 2:20) whereas none of the invading armies that attack Jerusalem in the Battle of Armageddon will escape. They, together with Antichrist will be all destroyed and cast into the lake of fire (Dan.7:11, Rev.19:20). Israel must be a converted nation waiting for Messiah to return when Jesus comes (Isa.25:9) at the end of the Tribulation. At the beginning of the Tribulation there will be 144,000 Jews preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom “in all the world”. They are the “firstfruits” of the nation and will be persecuted by fellow Jews at first (Matt.10:16-23). The 144,000 are all martyred by the mid-point of the Tribulation and are in heaven around the throne in Rev.14. Israel is converted at the time of the Russian invasion (Ezek.39:22-29) and in the midst of the Tribulation, Israel will be singing praises “from the utmost parts of the earth” (Isa.24:16) and will give thanks for having “a refuge from the storm” (Isa.25:4). If the Russian invasion was the battle of Armageddon then Israel would not sing praises during the Tribulation. It will be too late for anybody, Jew or Gentile, to repent when Christ returns “in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God” (2Thess.1:8). During the Tribulation Israel will have great victories over her enemies “like a torch in a sheaf” (Zech 12:6). This cannot happen while she is rejecting Messiah. The Palestinian Covenant promises victories only when Israel seeks the Lord (Deut.30:1-10). It Cannot Occur BEFORE the Rapture i) If the Russian invasion must occur before the Rapture that would remove the doctrine of imminence. We should be looking for the Russian invasion and not the Lord to call Christians home. The Bible clearly teaches that nobody knows the day or hour when the Son of man will come. The angels don’t know and even Jesus does not know when the Rapture will happen (Mark 13:32). ii) When the Russian invasion occurs “the whole house of Israel” receives mercy from the Lord (Ezek.39:25; Jer.31:34). If this occurred before the Rapture every Jew would be raptured and there would be no Jews here for the Tribulation but the whole purpose of the Tribulation is to bring Israel to repentance. Israel cannot reign with Christ in the Kingdom while unrepentant. iii) The Tribulation is the “Time of Jacob’s trouble” but if they are saved before the Rapture they would become part of the Gentile Church and there would be no Jews here for the Tribulation! The Tribulation is determined upon Jerusalem and Daniel’s people i.e. the Jews (Dan.9:24) therefore Israel cannot turn to the Lord BEFORE the Rapture. Acts 15:14 tells us that God will “visit the Gentiles” to “take out of them a people for His name” BEFORE the Lord returns to rebuild Israel. We cannot mix the Church Age with Israel’s 70th “week”. It MUST occur BEFORE Antichrist begins to Reign at the Mid-point of the Tribulation a) The Book of Revelation is a chronological outline of the events occurring during the seven years of the Tribulation from chapter 4 to chapter 18. Chapters 6 to 9 describe the first half when the seal and trumpet judgments are poured out and chapters 10 to 14 describe events occurring at the mid point while chapters 15 to 18 describe the “seven last plagues” (Rev.15:1) which are the seven Vial (Bowl) judgments. At the mid-point of the seven years Satan is cast down from heaven to the earth (Rev.12:12) and Antichrist is demon possessed. Antichrist reigns for 42 months (Rev.13:5). Then at the mid-point of the Tribulation, Satan is wroth with Israel and persecutes those who “keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev.12:17). Daniel describes this: “Therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many” (Dan.11:44). Since Israel has the testimony of Jesus Christ when the Beast takes universal control, Israel must be converted before the mid-point of the Tribulation! b) During the second half of the Tribulation God will provide protection for Israel from the attacks of Antichrist. Isaiah speaks of this: “Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut thy doors behind you: hide yourself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation is past. For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth” (Isa. 26:20-21). John wrote about this in Rev.12:6. He states that Israel would flee from Jerusalem when Antichrist moved into the Temple. She would go into the wilderness, where she “where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days” (Rev.12:6, 14). Jesus told Israel in the Olivet Discourse that when they saw the “abomination of desolation…stand in the holy place…then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains” (Matt.24:15-16). Somewhere in the Judean wilderness there are caves “prepared of God” where redeemed Israel will be able to find refuge from the attacks of Antichrist for the last 1,260 days before the Lord returns. God would not be providing a place of refuge for Israel if they were still rejecting His beloved Son and Antichrist would not be attacking Israel if they were not repentant. At the time of the Rapture Israel makes a covenant with Antichrist as the head of the EU and the reason for his hatred at the mid-point is because Israel has turned to Jesus Christ. Therefore the Russian invasion must occur in the first half of the Tribulation. The 144,000 Jewish men from the 12 tribes of Israel will no doubt be responsible for leading Israel to seek the Lord in the first half of the Tribulation and Joel prophesied that when the “northern army” comes into the land like a plague of locusts, that “THEN will the Lord be zealous for His land, and pity His people” (Joel2:18). Furthermore it is when the “northern army” is removed that God pours out His Spirit upon the nation (Joel 2:28). This conversion of Israel will be accompanied by “wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, BEFORE the great and terrible day of the Lord come (Joel2:30-31). These signs occur at the Russian invasion which is the 6th seal Judgment (Ezek,38:19-23; Rev.6:12-14). And after this Joel describes the battle of Armageddon and the second advent of Christ: “For behold in those days, and in that time, when I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will ALSO gather all nations, and will bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and will enter into judgement with them there on account my people…” (Joel3:1-2). Chapter three of Joel’s prophecy describes the second half of the Tribulation and the return of Christ “immediately after” the Tribulation (Joel 3:15-16) so it is perfectly clear that the conversion of Israel that occurs when Russia invades must be BEFORE the second half of the Tribulation. In the first half of the Tribulation God deals with Israel and brings them to repentance but in the second half He judges the nations.

God is faithful to keep His promises. In fact, the Bible is a record of promises God has made and kept. This is where I’m going: the apostle Paul asked the question in Romans 11:1, “Has God cast away His people?” Then he answered it: “Certainly not!” But some people would say that God has cast away His people. That’s the belief of amillennialism. Without getting too deep, amillennialists deny all the promises God gave to Israel, saying they were forfeited when Israel rejected Christ. Those promises, they say, are now fulfilled in the church, and the church has replaced Israel. God will not revive the nation literally. Today, amillennialism is the view held by the Roman Catholic Church, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Episcopalians, and many others. But I would say to them, respectfully, I disagree. This belief takes the text of Scripture and spiritualizes the meaning away by making it an allegory, especially the prophetic passages regarding the end times. But I interpret biblical texts plainly, literally, unless compelled by the text itself to interpret it otherwise. The fact is, God has preserved the Jewish people and brought them back to the land. By right of creation, God owns the world. By right of selection, God owns the land of Israel. And He can give it to anybody He wants to. Well, He gave it to Abraham and his descendants: “For all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever” (Genesis 13:15). And it’s an “everlasting covenant” (Genesis 17:7). Sounds permanent to me. It doesn’t sound like God is going to replace them with the church. Now, go back to Paul’s question: “Has God cast away His people?” No. He brought them back to the land after seventy years in Babylonian captivity and after the Romans caused a dispersion that lasted nearly 2,000 years. God has chastened them, sent them into captivity, and dispersed them. But He has not and will not cast them out. One day, the Jewish people will recognize Jesus as their Messiah. What’s happening in the meantime? The church age, or the age of grace. Paul said, “Blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness”—literally, the full number—”of the Gentiles has come in” (Romans 11:25). God has a purpose in letting them experience this blindness. And the purpose is us. So when this present age of grace has run its course, when that last Gentile, whoever he or she is somewhere in the world, says yes to Jesus, at that point, I believe the rapture will happen. So, share the gospel. Maybe you’ll tell that last person the good news of Jesus. Or, as I like to say, if you’re that last Gentile holding this show up, would you please surrender to the lordship of Jesus?

First I want to address 5 reasons why: They don’t understand prophecy They fear offending members of the church They sense it will scare people They fear people will stop giving They fear looking like fringe groups who take things to an extreme Fear stands out as the key motive behind the silence. Pastors also say they do not understand prophecy, but do they take the time to learn or turn to those who do understand it? Someone might ask: “Why does that matter? Does it really make a difference if preachers keep quiet on future things as long as they proclaim the Gospel with biblical clarity?” It not only matters a great deal, but it’s also dangerous to ignore a topic that the Bible emphasizes over and over again. The neglect of biblical prophecy in the pulpit results in: 1. Believers Relying Upon Social Media And The Internet For End Times Theology When pastors remain silent on biblical prophecy, believers look for information on biblical prophecy on social media and the Internet. There they find a wide array of teachings and opinions, some biblical, but most are false and misleading. Some believers possess the needed scriptural discernment to sort through the mess of various teachings. But as the lack of biblical knowledge reaches epidemic proportions among those claiming to be Christians, most churchgoers lack the necessary discernment and fall prey to the misinformation available at their fingertips. A couple questions for preachers: Do you really desire for social media and the Internet to be the primary source of information regarding prophecy for those in your church? Would it not be better for you to provide the sound biblical guidance regarding our hope that they so desperately need during these perilous times? 2. The Flourishing Of False Teaching Many pastors fear causing division in their congregation and thus remain silent on matters related to the Rapture. However, they fail to realize that it’s their refusal to preach on what the Bible says on this matter that has led to the very diversity of opinions in their churches. The potential for disunity is there even if they remain quiet. Last year, I met with a pastor who said that if he preached what I believe, half of his congregation would walk out the door. It occurred to me later that if he taught what he really believes, the other half would quickly depart. We started attending his church after seeing that it’s statement of faith said it was premillennial. The pastor, however, was most definitely not premillennial!! Pastors who ignore biblical prophecy allow false teachings to flourish or as in the case of the one I just mentioned, the church remains in the dark about he really believes. 3. Believers Looking To This Life For Their Immediate Hope Another consequence of silence in the pulpits regarding future things is that believers look for hope in things other than Jesus’ imminent appearing. A popular theology today, often referred to as “dominion theology,” teaches that the church will prevail against the evils of this word and usher in a millennial reign of its own before Jesus returns to the earth. Many Christians falsely believe the church itself is their hope for the future. Additionally, even pastors who do not adhere to “dominion theology” also make the church the object of hope for those that hear them preach. Those who allegorize the book of Revelation often, in my experience, change its message to exalt the church rather than Jesus. Still others give the impression that things will return to normal. “The world has seen difficult times at other times in history,” they say, “and the current crises are no different.” All these things point believers to this life as their hope rather than Jesus’ appearing. 4. Reduced Motivation For Godly Living The Lord intended our hope in the Rapture to be a motivation for godly living. John wrote these words in 1 John 3:2-3: 1 John‬ ‭3:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ – “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” Our hope in Jesus’ imminent return has a purifying impact on our lives: *“I don’t know why more people don’t want to talk about eschatology or end-times events because Bible prophecy is not given to scare us but to prepare us.” *“And not only that, but I think it motivates us.” *“Talking about these things can be very motivating for Christians to keep us on our toes spiritually. *“Knowing Jesus could come back at any moment,” can “be a motivator to live a godly life.” Silence in the pulpits regarding our “blessed hope” leaves those in the seats assuming they have their whole lives ahead of them although Scripture tells us this may not be the case. For many, this negates the urgency to walk closely with the Lord. 5. Believers That Are Unprepared For The Dangers That Lie Ahead For This World The scarcity of preaching on biblical prophecy leaves believers unprepared and unaware of the dark and threatening storm clouds gathering on our horizon. The Bible promises that Jesus may come at any time, but we may experience tough times before that happens. The current silence in the pulpits not only shifts the hope of the saints to this life, but leaves them ill-prepared to deal with ever-present threats of nuclear war and famine. If their focus is solely on their future in this life, these things will cause anxiety. Today more than ever before, believers need the assurances of Scripture regarding their joyful and glorious future. Pastors who refuse to teach about Jesus’ imminent appearing from the pulpit deny their people critically needed assurance as the threats of war and famine increase with each passing day. 6. Believers Not Watching For The Lord’s Appearing As Jesus Instructed Us To Do Referring to His return, Jesus said this in Matthew 24:44, “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” In the same discourse, He later said, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour” (25:13). Jesus’ instruction led to a church that eagerly anticipated His return. In Philippians 3:20–21 Paul wrote this: Philippians‬ ‭3:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬ – “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” The Greek word for “await” in verse 20 denotes to an “intense anticipation” or an “excited expectation” of a future event. In this text, Paul portrays believers as eagerly longing Jesus’ appearing with great anticipation; they expected it to happen at any moment. When we watch for Jesus’ appearing, we copy the eager expectancy of the early church to meet Jesus in the air. 7. The Convergence Of Prophetic Signs My head is spinning from all that’s happening in our world from a prophecy perspective. A few years ago, I believed that many signs of the approaching Tribulation were converging as never before, but today this reality has grown beyond what I could have imagined back then. As the shadow of the approaching Tribulation grows darker by the day, those aware of this convergence of prophetic signs recognize that Jesus’ appearing to take us home must be ever so close. The Rapture may happen soon, and I pray that it does. But if not, we will see our world rapidly deteriorate as critical food shortages develop and as the coming New World Order continues to suppress the rights of people throughout the world. Pastors, why not start preaching about biblical prophecy now rather than wait until people in your church demand that you teach on this subject, or the threatening conditions around you leave you with no choice but to talk about the details of our joyous and imminent hope? Let Jesus also be the example in what we teach and preach. He taught a great deal about His Second Coming and the signs surrounding it. We should, too. A realistic look at our world is indeed scary and grows more ominous with each passing day, but as we view current events through the lens of Scripture and what it promises us about our future, the Lord gives us strength and peace to face the joyous future that lies ahead for us.

THEY’RE BUILDING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM OF THE DIGITAL WORLD: If it seems like enormous, windowless data centres are suddenly going up everywhere, you aren’t imagining it. Nearly 100 gigawatts of new data-centre capacity is expected to be added worldwide between 2026 and 2030, roughly doubling what exists today. The International Energy Agency projects that data centres could consume around 945 terawatt-hours of electricity every year by 2030, more than the entire nation of Japan currently uses. In the United States alone, data centres could consume as much as 12 percent of the nation’s electricity by 2028. That should tell you how quickly this is moving. These buildings aren’t ordinary warehouses. They’re packed with servers, storage systems and networking equipment running artificial intelligence, cloud services, banking platforms, government databases, medical systems, social media and nearly everything else being moved online. Every payment processed, face scanned, license plate photographed, message sent, search made and location recorded creates data. That information has to be stored, compared and processed somewhere. This is where the data centres come in. The concern goes far beyond electricity and water. The real issue is how much information and power are being centralized. There was a time when cameras had to be watched by an actual person. Records were kept in separate buildings. Most purchases were made with cash. Your face, vehicle, location, conversations and spending habits weren’t constantly being converted into searchable information. That world is disappearing. Today, cameras, license-plate readers, facial recognition, financial records, phones and online accounts can all feed information into connected systems. Artificial intelligence can examine more information in seconds than a person could study in a lifetime. Your movements can be traced. Your habits can be studied. Your associations can be mapped. Your identity can be linked to your money, your devices and nearly everything you do. Data centres provide the computing power necessary to make that happen on a massive scale. Revelation describes a coming system powerful enough to decide who may participate in commerce: “And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark… And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark.” Revelation 13:16–17 John wasn’t shown computer servers, biometric scanners, artificial intelligence or digital payment networks. He was shown what the system would eventually accomplish. It would identify people, demand their allegiance and shut anyone who refused out of the economy. For most of human history, enforcing that kind of control across the world would have been impossible. Governments couldn’t track everyone. They couldn’t instantly verify every identity or monitor every transaction. Now the infrastructure is being built all around us. Digital identification is expanding. Cash is disappearing. Artificial intelligence is being connected to surveillance. Banking, communication, transportation, employment and government services are all being tied together through the same digital networks. The machinery needed to control buying and selling is no longer science fiction. It’s being installed in plain sight and promoted as convenience, safety and progress. Jesus warned His disciples that deception would be one of the defining signs of the last days: “Take heed that no man deceive you.” Matthew 24:4 Artificial intelligence can already fabricate voices, photographs and videos that look real. As the technology improves, people will have a harder time knowing whether the person speaking on their screen ever said those words, whether the event they’re watching actually happened or whether the information being presented was manufactured. The same infrastructure being built to store and process the world’s information can also be used to alter it, censor it and control who is allowed to see it. Christians don’t need to panic, but we had better pay attention. Scripture already told us where concentrated human power, worldwide deception and rebellion against God will eventually lead. “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:6 Those massive buildings appearing across the world are becoming far more than warehouses full of computers. They’re becoming the nervous system of a completely connected world, storing its memories, processing its money, watching its movements and increasingly making its decisions. Pay attention to what is being built. Then pay even closer attention to who eventually controls it. THE CLOUD IS THIRSTY: Here’s the part most people never see.. The cloud has plumbing. Those massive buildings are packed with servers running artificial intelligence, cloud storage, banking systems, government records, medical networks, surveillance systems and nearly everything else being pushed online. All of that computing creates an enormous amount of heat. If the heat isn’t removed, the equipment slows down, fails or catches fire. Water remains one of the cheapest and most efficient ways to move that heat out of the building. That means the digital world doesn’t only run on electricity. It runs on water. THERE ARE TWO WATER BILLS The first is the water used directly at the facility. Many data centres use cooling towers or evaporative cooling. Heat is transferred into water, and part of that water is released into the air as vapor. Once it evaporates, it isn’t immediately returned to the local water system. The second bill is harder to see. Power plants often consume water while producing the electricity that runs the servers. A facility may claim that it uses very little water on-site while its enormous electrical demand creates a much larger water footprint somewhere else. Researchers call these direct and indirect water consumption. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory estimated that American data centres directly consumed about 66 billion litres of water in 2023, approximately 17.4 billion gallons. The electricity supplying those facilities carried an estimated indirect water footprint of nearly 800 billion litres, or roughly 211 billion gallons. Count both sides, and the 2023 water footprint approached 229 billion gallons. That’s the part usually missing when a company announces that its new cooling system barely uses any water. Maybe the building doesn’t. What about the power plants feeding it? AI IS ACCELERATING THE DEMAND Global data-centre electricity use was estimated at about 415 terawatt-hours in 2024. The International Energy Agency projects it could reach approximately 945 terawatt-hours by 2030. The United States is expected to account for a major portion of that increase, with American data-centre electricity consumption projected to rise roughly 130 percent between 2024 and 2030. That creates a difficult problem. Newer facilities may use less water for every unit of computing, but companies are building so many facilities, packing them with so many high-powered AI chips and running them so hard that total consumption can continue climbing anyway. Efficiency doesn’t solve much if growth outruns it. THE NATIONAL NUMBER DOESN’T TELL THE WHOLE STORY Compared with all the water used across the United States, data centres are still a relatively small category. That sounds reassuring until several enormous facilities are placed in the same county, connected to the same treatment plant, the same reservoir or the same aquifer. Water problems are local. A data centre in Virginia doesn’t drain a faucet in Nevada. It can, however, place tremendous pressure on the water system serving the people who live beside it. Arizona’s data centres were projected to consume around 905 million gallons in 2025. That was less than one-tenth of one percent of the state’s total water use, but it was still enough water to supply nearly 10,000 Phoenix-area homes for a year. Both statements can be true. The state wide percentage can appear small while the demand placed upon one utility, one pipeline or one community becomes significant. Prince William County, Virginia, offers another example. Its water authority reported that approximately 55 data centres consumed 3.8 percent of average daily water demand during 2025. On the highest-demand days, however, their share rose to 10.1 percent. That peak is crucial. Cooling demand often rises during the hottest part of the year, precisely when residents are watering crops, fighting fires, filling cooling systems and being warned to conserve. The issue isn’t only how much water a facility uses over twelve months. It’s how much it demands on the worst day of the year. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE COMMUNITY? A large new customer can require bigger pumps, new treatment capacity, larger water mains, expanded sewer systems and additional reservoir or river allocations. Some communities require the developer to pay those costs. Prince William Water follows a “growth pays for growth” policy, requiring new development to fund the capacity and infrastructure it needs. Other communities may approve tax incentives and development agreements before the public even receives reliable numbers on expected water consumption. That leaves residents asking basic questions after the deal has already been made. How much drinking water will it use? Where will that water come from? What happens during drought? Will private wells be affected? Who pays for the new infrastructure? Can the facility continue operating while residents are ordered to conserve? What chemicals will leave the cooling system in its wastewater? Heavy groundwater pumping can lower water tables, reduce water available to private wells and decrease streamflow. Large surface-water withdrawals can also increase competition between municipal users, agriculture and wildlife during drought conditions. Cooling-system discharge may require treatment because it can contain corrosion inhibitors, biocides and other chemicals used to control mineral buildup and biological growth. Those consequences aren’t guaranteed at every facility. They’re reasons the public should see the water plan before construction begins. WE’VE ALREADY SEEN WHAT POOR OVERSIGHT LOOKS LIKE In Fayette County, Georgia, officials discovered that a massive data-centre construction site had drawn nearly 30 million gallons of water through connections that weren’t properly included in its billing account. Residents had complained about weak water pressure, although the county and company disputed whether the project caused the pressure problem. The company blamed a metering and billing oversight and later paid retroactive charges. The larger lesson isn’t that every data center is secretly stealing water. The lesson is that a project can move tens of millions of gallons before the surrounding community receives a clear accounting of what happened. That is unacceptable infrastructure management. THE INDUSTRY KNOWS THIS IS BECOMING A PROBLEM Investors are now pressing Amazon, Microsoft and Google for more complete information about water and electricity use. Reuters reported that company disclosures still vary widely. Some reports omit leased facilities, projects under construction or site-level figures, making it difficult for residents and investors to determine what a specific project is doing to a specific watershed. A worldwide sustainability total can look impressive while hiding a serious local problem. Water replaced through a conservation project in one location doesn’t automatically erase water consumed from a stressed aquifer hundreds of miles away. Timing counts. Location counts. The condition of the watershed counts. THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO BUILD THESE FACILITIES This isn’t an argument to shut down the internet or pretend modern computing has no value. The technology exists to reduce the damage. Microsoft reports that its average data-centre water-use effectiveness fell to 0.27 litres per kilowatt-hour in 2025, nearly 90 percent lower than its earliest generation of facilities. The company is also introducing designs intended to eliminate water evaporation from the cooling process at certain new facilities. Amazon reported a global data-centre water-use effectiveness of 0.12 litres per kilowatt-hour in 2025. It had also contracted for reclaimed-water cooling at 130 data centres and said 26 operating facilities used reclaimed water, preserving potable water for residents and ecosystems. Google reported replenishing approximately 7.7 billion gallons through water projects in 2025, equal to about 78 percent of its reported freshwater consumption. Those efforts are real progress. They also prove that companies have options. Data centres can use treated wastewater instead of drinking water. They can recirculate cooling water, capture rainwater, cool chips directly, use dry cooling where conditions permit and place facilities in regions that can actually support them. Every method involves trade offs. Waterless cooling can consume more electricity. Evaporative cooling may save electricity while consuming more water. A closed loop can greatly reduce ongoing withdrawals but may still require water during construction, filling, maintenance or emergency operation. There is no magic system with zero footprint. There are responsible choices and irresponsible ones. WHAT SHOULD COMMUNITIES DEMAND? Every major project should disclose its expected annual water consumption, maximum daily demand, water source, cooling technology, wastewater plan and drought operating procedure. The public should be told how much potable water will be consumed, how much reclaimed water will be used and how much water is indirectly consumed through electricity generation. Independent meters and public reporting should be required from the first day of construction. Developers should pay for the pipelines, pumps, treatment capacity and electrical infrastructure their projects require. Water-stressed communities should have enforceable drought limits before permits and tax incentives are approved. Promises to become “water positive” someday shouldn’t replace protections for the people living beside the facility today. THE CLOUD ISN’T FLOATING ABOVE US It sits on land. It connects to real power plants. It draws from real rivers, reservoirs, aquifers and municipal pipes. The digital world may appear invisible from your phone, but its physical footprint is becoming impossible to ignore. Data centres will continue being built. The real question is whether they’ll be built with honest accounting and proper safeguards, or whether ordinary people will be expected to surrender their water, absorb the infrastructure costs and accept whatever explanation comes afterward. Technology isn’t the enemy. Secrecy, weak oversight and making the public carry the cost are the problem. The cloud has plumbing, and the people paying the water bill deserve to know exactly where every gallon is going.

Tradition says the Apostle Thomas converted the islanders in the 1st century on his way to India, with concrete historical accounts confirming a Christian presence and a resident Nestorian bishop by the 6th century. Unfortunately besides other geographical & economical factors, Islamic conquest as in so many Mediterranean & Middle Eastern countries destroyed Christianity on this Island.
