The Miracle of Israel's Rebirth

On May 14, 1948, Israel became a nation again.

After nearly 2,000 years of being scattered, hated, hunted, pushed from country to country, and surviving every empire that tried to erase them, the Jewish people came back into their land.

Name another people like that. Scattered that long. No homeland. No temple. No king. Surrounded by enemies. Still preserved as a people. You can’t.

God said Israel would be scattered.

God said Israel would be preserved.

God said Israel would be brought back.

Ezekiel 37 shows dry bones coming back together, and God tells Ezekiel exactly who the bones are: “These bones are the whole house of Israel…”

Ezekiel 37:11

Then God says:

“I will… bring you into the land of Israel.”

Ezekiel 37:12

Israel returning to the land isn’t just modern politics.

It’s God keeping His word in front of the whole world.

Isaiah 66:8 asks:

“Shall a nation be born at once?”

Then May 14, 1948 happened.

Now modern Israel is 78 years old.

Psalm 90:10 says:

The days of our lives are seventy years, and if by reason of strength they are eighty years,

That’s 70 years.

And by strength, 80.

Now listen to what Jesus said about the fig tree:

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree;

When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near:

So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

Matthew 24:32-34

Israel is connected with the fig tree in Scripture. So when Israel comes back into the land,

and the fig tree starts putting forth leaves again,

Bible believers shouldn’t be asleep at the wheel.

The last generation is the fig tree generation.

No, I’m not setting dates.

I’m not playing prophet.

I’m not saying Jesus has to return on somebody’s cute little chart.

But I am saying this generation has seen something massive.

Israel is back.

Jerusalem is still the centre of world tension.

The nations are still raging around her.

The land God promised is still being fought over by the world.

Zechariah 12:3 says Jerusalem would become:

“a burdensome stone for all people…”

Look around.

That’s exactly what it is.

And no, this doesn’t mean we worship a flag or pretend modern Israel is spiritually perfect. They aren’t. Israel still needs national repentance.

Israel still needs to recognize Jesus Christ as Messiah.

Zechariah 12:10 says they will one day look upon Him whom they pierced.

That day is coming.

So this month of May, I don’t just see an anniversary.

I see a warning light on the dashboard.

God keeps covenant.

God preserves His people.

God isn’t finished with Israel.

And if God can keep His word to Israel after almost 2,000 years, He can keep every promise He made to those of us who are in Christ.

The world looks at Israel and argues politics.

Bible believers should see prophecy.

Maranatha.
