Boy George may have just delivered the most rebellious performance of his career.
And that is saying something.
This is a man who spent the 80s wearing more eyeliner than a pirate queen while confusing parents everywhere about whether they were watching a pop star, a fashion statement, or a very glamorous cry for help.
But now the Culture Club frontman has done something far more dangerous than cross dressing.
He has expressed an unfashionable opinion.
The flamboyant frontman of Culture Club has released a pro-Israel song titled “We Will Dance Again”.
It’s a song defending Israel’s military response after Hamas terrorists murdered around 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.
The song begins …
“You say genocide, I say war / When you’re attacked, that’s what the army’s for
“Does it get ugly? You bet it does / When I know you wanna kill every last one of us.
Later in the song Boy George sings …
“I stand with the Jews / I don’t feel brave, I just need to behave like a human.”
Other song lyrics include:

“You condemn the Jews / With selective memory
“Musicians holding flags / Mouthing like sheep

Left wing news outlet The Guardian reported on the song, saying that the flamboyant pop star’s …
“ … characterisation of Israel’s action against Palestine as a legitimate military response rather than genocide runs counter to a United Nations inquiry.”
To which I say, thank God for Boy George.
Boy George, who was raised in an Irish Catholic household and is not Jewish, has been vocal about his support of Israel.
He once told the UK Telegraph …
“Over the years it’s been a really personal thing.“It doesn’t mean that I don’t have compassion for Palestinians, it doesn’t mean that I agree with what’s going on in Israel, but I am always going to defend the people that I love.“I have a lot of Jewish friends and there would never be a situation where I’d turn my back on them.”
Boy George spent decades challenging convention. Now he is challenging the most powerful convention of all — the idea that everyone must think the same way.
The man who once shocked the world with his clothes is now shocking it with something far more dangerous.
A conscience.
