THE DATA CENTER IS ALIVE

I had to look this one up because I thought somebody was exaggerating.

They weren’t.

Researchers in Singapore have built a biological data centre that uses living human neurons to process information.

Read that again.

Living human neurons.

The prototype at the National University of Singapore contains 20 biological computers developed by Cortical Labs.

Human neurons grown from stem cells are placed on silicon chips fitted with electrodes.

The computer sends electrical signals into the neurons, the neurons respond, and their electrical activity is read back into the system.

They call it wetware.

These aren’t computer simulations pretending to be neurons.

They’re actual living biological cells connected to computer hardware.

They even have to keep them alive.

The neurons are supplied with nutrients and kept under controlled conditions while they’re being used for computing.

The whole idea takes advantage of something the human brain does incredibly well. It learns and adapts while using very little energy compared with conventional computing systems.

This isn’t science fiction anymore.

Software can send a signal into living human neurons, those neurons react, and a machine can read the response.

Think about how insane that sentence would’ve sounded twenty years ago.

We’re watching biology and computers cross a line most people probably never imagined we’d reach.

It also raises some enormous questions.

At what point does a collection of human neurons become more than biological hardware?

Can it experience anything?

Could a sufficiently complex biological computer eventually develop something resembling awareness?

There’s currently no evidence that these systems are conscious, and this certainly isn’t a human brain sitting inside a server rack.

But look at what man has already figured out how to do.

Grow human neurons, connect them to silicon, stimulate them with electricity, read their responses, and use their activity for computation.

Whatever comes next, we’re officially in some very strange territory.

Is this getting us one step closer to Revelation 13?
