Faith is proven in the fire

Everybody wants the testimony.

Nobody wants the test.

We want the victory story. The healed family. The open door. The answered prayer. The “look what God did” moment.

Then the test shows up and we start asking God why He allowed it.

Here’s the truth.

A testimony isn’t born in comfort.

It’s born under pressure.

Gold gets tried in fire. Faith gets tried in trouble. Endurance gets built when quitting would be easier.

“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire…”

1 Peter 1:7

God never said the test would feel good.

He said He’d use it.

Joseph had a testimony, but first came the pit, betrayal, false accusation, and prison.

Job had a testimony, but first came loss, grief, sickness, and silence.

Daniel had a testimony, but first came the lions’ den.

The three Hebrew boys had a testimony, but first came the furnace.

Paul had a testimony, but first came beatings, shipwrecks, rejection, prison, and a thorn in the flesh.

Jesus had the resurrection, but first came the cross.

We keep asking God for a testimony while begging Him to remove every test that would produce one.

Sometimes the thing you’re begging God to pull you out of is the thing He’s using to build the story He’ll get glory from.

Your test isn’t proof God left you.

It may be proof He’s forming something in you that comfort never could.

“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart…”

Psalm 34:18

Hold your ground.

Pray.

Stay faithful.

Keep your eyes on Christ.

One day you may look back and realize the thing you thought would break you became the place God gave you a testimony.
